The Sony A7 III and A7R III are compact full-frame cameras made to travel. During everyday use, however, the camera body can rub against other equipment in a bag, touch rough surfaces or pick up scratches while being handled around tripods and straps.

What does the case protect?
A camera body is exposed to small risks whenever it is carried or used: rubbing against a zipper or another accessory, resting on a rough table, catching the edge of a tripod plate, or being handled with dusty hands.
The fitted silicone layer helps protect covered areas from:
- everyday scratches and scuffs;
- light bumps during handling and transport;
- contact with rough or sharp objects;
- fingerprints and hand oils on covered surfaces.
The textured silicone can also add grip and changes the look of the camera without adding a bulky outer shell.
This is not a waterproof housing, and it cannot guarantee that a camera will survive every fall. The result of any impact depends on the height, angle, surface and attached equipment. Carry the camera in a suitable padded bag when it is not in use.
How closely does it fit?
The case is molded around the body shape of the Sony A7 III and A7R III. Openings leave the lens mount, rear screen, viewfinder, hot shoe, ports, battery compartment and tripod socket accessible.
Because silicone has thickness, the camera will not feel exactly the same as an uncovered body. The material sits close to several small buttons and dials, so some controls may feel tighter or offer less finger clearance. Not every covered button has a printed label, which can also make a new camera owner's controls harder to identify at first.
We have not identified one specific control that is affected on every current case. The practical trade-off is simple: more body coverage can mean less open space around small controls. If you are new to the camera, compare the control layout with the Sony manual until the positions become familiar.
Can you change the battery without removing the case?
Yes. The bottom opening leaves the Sony A7 III and A7R III battery door accessible. You can open the door and remove or replace the battery while the silicone case remains on the camera.
Before your first shoot, check that the case is seated evenly around the bottom opening and that no edge of the silicone is folded over the battery door.
Can you use a tripod with the case installed?
Yes, a standard tripod plate can be attached through the exposed tripod socket without removing the case. Sony's official help guide specifies a tripod screw shorter than 5.5 mm (7/32 inches) for the camera body.
This answer applies to a normal tripod plate that uses the camera's bottom socket. It does not confirm compatibility with every oversized plate, L-bracket, battery grip or full metal camera cage. Those accessories have different shapes and contact areas, so treat them as not verified unless the exact accessory has been tested with the case.

How to install the silicone case
- Turn the camera off and remove any tripod plate or external bottom accessory.
- Align the case around the lens mount and camera grip.
- Gently work the silicone around the corners without pulling hard on one small opening.
- Align the openings around the screen, viewfinder, ports, battery door and tripod socket.
- Press around the edges so that the case sits evenly.
- Test the battery door, ports, buttons and dials before shooting.
To remove the case, loosen one edge at a time. Avoid pulling hard on a thin section, especially around port openings, because repeated overstretching can damage silicone.

No. This version should be used only with the Sony A7 III and A7R III. The A7S III has a different body design.
